I agree... we cannot just have an outlook that says well it is over so stop talking about it.... we must voice out concerns!!! This is injustice.. even if it had happened to the other team.. wrong is wrong.
I don't believe the officials had a grudge specifically against Norton. But, I think it could have been a situation of an official who for whatever reason shares the same contempt for Southwest Virginia as many of the people in Eastern Virginia. In this case, Norton may just represent what they don't like about us.
I don't know how the penalties compared to other games. But, I am convinced that this call shouldn't have been made at this juncture of the game. If in fact, there was "excessive celebration," most officials would have given a warning to the team and coaches. Instead, this call changed the potential outcome of the most important game of the year.
I really don't subscribe to conspiracy theories myself, but as I stated once before, I can't believe that this particular call, at this particular point in this game, having the affect it had on the game, was either accidental of coincidental.

I agree with what you are saying here... they should have... actually all teams need to put more energy into the kicking game... start them early... send them to kicking camp... what ever you have to do.

I think it would be best to take down goal posts in all levels of football and only go for two. That is why I have always thought highly of Appy. I never did like the idea of letting a game rest on one person. Atleast if a team goes for two then it is a team effort. To try a kick puts all the pressure on the kicker. Just like with Gardner in the GC @ GW game in 2002. He was heartbroken after missing the point after to tie the game in OT. I can remember and still hear some fans say we should have went for two! But that is over and GC redeemed theirselves along with Gardner the next year at JMU! The main thing for the Burton team is to push forward and get back there next year and just bury whoever you face. Put them away early and things wont come down to one last play.
I think if we need to send any emails then send them about getting some of the State Finals games rotated from year to year so this part of the state wont have to travel so much every year. I sent an email yesterday about it.
So kicking an extra point when you're up by 21 or more is not considered running up the score? Then Phil Robbins must be a saint. LMFAO!!

No one needs your smart mouth on here either!
I was simply making a point and I'm not at GC, THANK YOU!
Just cas you see a DEVIL doesn't mean I attend the games or live in Gate City.
I do know this .. if Gate City lost a State Title game and came on here claiming State Champs without a Trophy or whinning about losing period ... EVERYONE on this forum would be saying what I have and giving all Gate City fans h.e.l.l about whinning!
Must be a double standard here I guess!? ha-ha
So if you can't respect my point then delete your posts and go your way there BUB!

Wrong on that one, I dont like Norton all that much to be honest with you, only time I pull for them all year is in the final four and state. And I'm behind them 110% on this one, they got robbed. Had it happened to GC, I'd feel the same way, it's kids. Kids should be given an opportunity to live out there childhood dream, they were not given that shot. FWIW, GC has been given the short end of the stick a few times themselves.

Oh I didn't say they didnt get screwed. I just think that had they worked more on the 1 point kick, they could have maybe tied it.
They instead chose to go for 2 most of the year when they didn't need to and maybe it came back to haunt them.
I feel for the kids I really do!
It's not the kids fault!

How are they going to work on going for one point from 35 yards away? That happens maybe once a year if that, I couldn't tell you the last time I seen that in high school football. In that situation asking a high school kid to kick a 35 yard exp is a bit much I think, especially with the hashes and goal post situation. Best situation for Norton after the penalty was to run all the recievers on a streak and pray.
